Fall 2026 Restaurant Check: New Openings Worth a Reservation
One of the questions I hear most from buyers and sellers, whether they are visiting from out of state or already settling in, is where to go for a great dinner. The Sarasota and Venice dining scene keeps answering with new openings, and this fall there are several worth your evening. Here is the shortlist I have been handing to clients and friends this season, from a stylish new steakhouse presence on Lido Key to a tiki bar on the south side of Venice.
Ringside at Cirque St. Armands Beachside, Lido Key
The Cirque St. Armands complex on Lido Key has been making noise on the dining front, and Ringside is the seafood-forward anchor of it. It opened in 2025 at 233 Benjamin Franklin Drive and has settled in as a polished spot for oysters, fresh fish, and a sophisticated cocktail program, all steps from the beach. It earned a place on the newest dining arrivals list that Sarasota Magazine and the Herald-Tribune have both been tracking this year. If you are showing the area to visiting family, this is a confident choice.
Olive Eats, Downtown Sarasota
Olive Eats opened in downtown Sarasota in November 2025 and has earned glowing reviews fast, including a spot in the Herald-Tribune's roundup of new Sarasota restaurants. It leans Mediterranean and Middle Eastern: think fresh mezze, grilled meats, and thoughtful vegetable plates in a warm, modern room. It is reasonably priced, easy to book, and the kind of place that works for a business lunch or a relaxed date night. For clients who want quality without the reservation anxiety of the big-name spots, this is my go-to recommendation right now.
Mimi's Brasserie and Speakeasy, Southside Village
Mimi's has been open since early December 2025 and is no longer new enough to be a secret, but it is consistently excellent, so it stays on the list. The front room is a stylish French brasserie with steak frites and duck confit, and the back hides one of the most inventive cocktail programs in the city. It is a favorite for celebrations and for out-of-town guests who want Sarasota to feel cosmopolitan.
Cabo Breeze Mexican Grill and Tiki Bar, Venice
Venice keeps adding character, and Cabo Breeze delivered it. It opened in late 2025 at 648 South Tamiami Trail in the Rialto Shopping Center, taking over the former Shuck N' Ale space and turning it into a colorful Mexican grill with a full tiki bar. Think fresh margaritas, tacos, and a patio that feels like a vacation. It is family-friendly, lively, and a welcome addition south of downtown Venice.
Venice Vibes, South Venice
Venice Vibes opened in the summer of 2025 at 1965 South Tamiami Trail as a gastropub with an Italian accent: handmade pastas alongside burgers, wings, and a serious cocktail list. Locals have embraced it as the kind of neighborhood spot where you can come as you are and stay for hours. If you are house hunting in the Venetian Golf and River Club or Wellen Park area, this is a great place to unwind after a day of showings.
What to Watch For
A few more openings are on the way. The Breakfast Company, a favorite for brunch on the north side, has been building out a Venice location near I-75 and Jacaranda Boulevard that will give South County a dependable morning table. Ristorante Roma is expected to bring old-school Italian to the former Unique Cuisine space in downtown Venice around November. And in Sarasota, the very anticipated Balos Mediterranean and BrickTop's are still on track for downtown and University Town Center, respectively, with openings expected in 2027. I will keep you posted as dates firm up.
A Few of My Long-Standing Favorites
For waterfront sunset dining, Marina Jack and Owen's Fish Camp never miss in Sarasota, and the Crow's Nest and Fins at Sharky's are still the standards in Venice. For a special occasion, Ocean Prime's bay views and The Bijou Café's candlelit room remain hard to beat. There is a rhythm to dining here, and the new places are only adding to it.
If you are moving to the area or simply visiting to look at homes, I am happy to build you a dining itinerary to match your evening, from casual beachside to white tablecloth. Send me a note or give me a call. And if a restaurant in your future neighborhood matters to you, tell me; it tells me a lot about where you will be happiest. Thanks so much, and I hope to see you out there.
