November 2026 Events: Sarasota and Venice Holiday Kickoffs

November is when the Gulf Coast shifts into its most festive gear. The month opens with one of the world's great street-art events, honors veterans in both Sarasota and Venice, and closes with the first holiday parades of the season. If you are visiting to explore a move, or simply want to enjoy the area like a local, here is your guide to November 2026 in Sarasota and Venice.

The Sarasota International Chalk Festival

Early November brings the Sarasota International Chalk Festival to the Historic Burns Square district in downtown Sarasota. Billed as a "Museum in Motion," the multi-day event turns the streets near Pineapple Avenue into a canvas for pavement artists from around the world: oversized chalk masterpieces, interactive 3D illusions that seem to lift off the pavement, and flower-carpet artists working in petals. It is free to watch, extraordinary to walk through, and one of the most photographed weekends of the year downtown.

Veterans Day in Sarasota and Venice

On November 11, Sarasota holds its annual Veterans Day Parade, stepping off around 10 a.m. from Main Street and Orange Avenue and finishing at Chaplain J.D. Hamel Park, organized with the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee. Down in Venice, the American Legion NO-VEL Post 159 hosts its Veterans Day ceremony at Patriots Park on Venetia Bay Boulevard at 11 a.m., with area veterans organizations participating. Both are moving, community-wide ways to honor those who served, and both are worth planning around.

Santa's Grand Arrival at UTC

The holiday season officially kicks off at the Mall at University Town Center in early November with Santa's Grand Arrival. The free evening celebration begins mid-afternoon and includes a Veterans Day tribute, a high-wire walk by a member of the famous Wallenda family, a tree lighting, a Santa parade with more than 50 floats, and fireworks to close the night. It is one of those bigger-than-expected events that has become a family tradition for residents across the region.

The Venice Holiday Parade

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, historic downtown Venice hosts its beloved holiday parade, stepping off around 6:30 p.m. along Venice Avenue and the surrounding streets. Close to 100 floats, marching bands, and Santa himself make their way through the Mediterranean Revival downtown, followed by a tree lighting and caroling. It is pure small-town charm, the kind of evening that makes you fall in love with this town in a single stroll.

More November Happenings

The month has more to offer beyond the big three. The Suncoast Food & Wine Fest opens November 1, Siesta Key's "Light Up the Village" holiday parade takes over Siesta Key Village late in the month, and Venice's Mayor's Hometown Christmas brings tree lighting and choirs downtown to start the holiday stretch. On the beaches, November is also lovely for long walks and shelling: the crowds thin, the water is still comfortable, and the light turns golden.

If November sounds like the kind of month you would like to live in, come see it for yourself. I would be glad to plan a visit with you, show you the neighborhoods from Venice to Palmer Ranch, and introduce you to the communities that make this season here so special. Send me a note and let us get you here.
