Spring 2027 on the Gulf Coast: Sarasota and Venice Season Preview
If you are new to the Gulf Coast, spring is the season that will convince you to stay. The snowbirds are still here, so the energy is high, the weather is at its most comfortable, and the calendar fills with festivals, food, and culture from February through April. This is also the season I recommend for out-of-state buyers who want to see the area at its liveliest before making a move. Here is a preview of the spring 2027 events I am most looking forward to in Sarasota and Venice.
February: Music and Romance
February opens with one of the region's biggest music weekends, Thunder by the Bay, the annual music and motorcycle festival at the Sarasota Fairgrounds in mid-February. It is part rally, part concert series, and entirely its own atmosphere, with live music on multiple stages across a long weekend. If a quieter kind of romance is more your speed, the Valentine's Day at the Beach vow renewal ceremony on Siesta Key is a sweet, long-running tradition that draws couples from everywhere. And throughout the month, the region's arts season, opera, ballet, and circus arts, is still in full swing, so there is a performance nearly every night.
March: Blues, BBQ, and More
March belongs to Venice. The Venice Blues, Rock, Reggae & BBQ Festival is a three-day event at the Venice Airport Festival Grounds with live music on two stages, a Florida BBQ Association sanctioned cook-off, food trucks, and local vendors. It is one of those weekends where the whole town shows up. A little further out, the Myakka River Blues Festival at Snook Haven pairs live blues with the Myakka River's cypress-lined banks. And as the weather warms, the Venice Farmers Market beside City Hall is at its best, with local produce, handmade goods, and live music every Saturday morning.
April: Film, Sharks' Teeth, and Fine Art
April is the busiest month on the calendar. The Sarasota Film Festival, one of the largest regional film festivals in the country, screens hundreds of independent films, documentaries, and shorts across venues around downtown, and it is a highlight of the cultural year. In Venice, the Sharks Tooth Festival at Centennial Park celebrates the town's claim as the Shark Tooth Capital of the World with fossil vendors, live music, food trucks, and a kids' corner, free to the public. Add the Sarasota County Fair, the Sarasota International Dragon Boat Festival at Nathan Benderson Park, and the St. Armands Fine Art Festival on the Circle, and you have a full month of choices.
Why Spring Is a Great Time to House-Hunt
For relocating buyers, spring is also a smart time to visit. You see the area at full energy, which means you know exactly what you are signing up for, and the market is active, so the inventory of luxury homes is typically at its most complete. It is easier to picture the life you will actually live here in April than it is in the quieter months, and that clarity makes the decision easier. If you are weighing a move, plan your visit around one of these festivals and let the experience do some of the convincing.
Come See the Season With Me
I love this time of year, and I love showing it to buyers who are trying to imagine their life on the Gulf Coast. If you are thinking about making the move, let me put together a spring visit that pairs the festivals you care about with the neighborhoods and homes that match your goals. Reach out and tell me what sounds good to you. You will still be talking about me in five years, and I mean that in the best way.
