Spring 2027 Restaurant Watch: What's New in Sarasota and Venice

The dining scene across Sarasota and Venice has been busy, and the new year brought a fresh round of tables worth knowing about. From Pinchers landing on St. Armands Circle to a wave of new kitchens downtown and in Wellen Park, here is my spring 2027 restaurant watch for the places I am recommending to clients and friends.

Pinchers Opens on St. Armands Circle

The big arrival is Pinchers, which opened this season in an 8,000-square-foot space at 300 John Ringling Boulevard on St. Armands Circle, the longtime Tommy Bahama spot. It is the popular Gulf Coast seafood chain's second Sarasota County location, and it is exactly what the Circle needed: family-friendly, reliably good steamed shellfish and Gulf seafood, and a lively room that fits the shopping-and-dining rhythm of the island. It is already the place I tell out-of-town guests to try after a beach afternoon.

Downtown Sarasota's New Kitchens

Downtown has been swapping kitchens on Main Street, and two of the strongest additions are worth a reservation. Baldoria, at 1528 Main Street, brings Mediterranean tapas and cocktails from the team behind My Mamma Italian Kitchen, and it has a warm, contemporary feel that works for date night or a relaxed business dinner. Just next door at 1532 Main Street, Sorella serves handmade pasta and Naples-style wood-fired pizza, opened by twin sisters whose dough and sauces have quickly earned a following. Both are walkable from the bayfront and fit neatly into a downtown evening.

Venice and South County

South of downtown, Salty Neighbor Bar & Grill opened in the former Rib City space on South Tamiami Trail in Venice, a Cuban-influenced neighborhood sports bar from a retired Navy veteran. It is the kind of come-as-you-are spot that fills a real gap: a friendly bar with a good kitchen and a local crowd. In Wellen Park, Downtown Wellen's Phase II expansion brought Easy Does It Comfort Kitchen, known for smashburgers, sandwiches, and a generous hand with tater tots, alongside La Maison, a French patisserie turning out fresh breads and pastries. For families and new residents in Venice, these are the tables you will return to again and again.

What's Still to Come

The most anticipated opening of the spring is Balos, a 7,200-square-foot Mediterranean restaurant set inside a new downtown Sarasota condominium building. It promises an upscale Greek and Eastern Mediterranean menu with fresh seafood and an extensive wine list, and downtown regulars are already watching the progress. If it delivers anything like the buzz suggests, it will join the short list of can't-miss rooms in the city.

How I Use This When I Show Homes

When buyers are deciding between neighborhoods, I always point them to the dining scene, because how you eat is how you live. St. Armands buyers get the Circle's restaurants at their doorstep; downtown buyers get a walkable grid of new kitchens; and Venice and Wellen Park buyers get a growing list of local favorites without the season crowds. The restaurants tell you a lot about a community's energy, and right now the story is a good one.

Let Me Point You to the Right Table

Whether you are relocating, buying a second home, or just visiting to see the area, I would love to match you with the restaurants that fit your tastes and your future neighborhood. Tell me what you love to eat and I will build your short list, and we can even plan showings around a great dinner. Thanks so much, and warmly, Julie.
