September is my favorite month on the coast, and for good reason. The water is at its warmest, the beaches are quieter, and the calendar fills with events that capture everything I love about this community. The Beaches Are at Their Best Right Now

For those who prefer a quieter experience, Caspersen Beach in Venice offers something unique: it is the shark tooth capital of the world, and the fossil hunting is at its best in late summer after the tides have churned up the sand. Bring a small mesh bag, go at low tide, and you will almost certainly find teeth that are millions of years old.
